Understanding & Putting
an End to Sleep Disorders

Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a condition in which the muscles in your throat relax, collapsing your airway while sleeping. When your airway collapses, you can’t breathe air into your lungs, decreasing the oxygen level in your bloodstream. Symptoms of OSA include loud snoring, gasping in the middle of sleep, waking up tired and with a headache, and general sleeplessness, and it’s associated with diabetes, heart disease, and many other medical conditions. At Tower Sleep Medicine, we administer both Home Sleep Testing (HST) and sleep laboratory-based testing to diagnose and subsequently treat obstructive sleep apnea.

Snoring

Snoring, i.e., the harsh sounds you make while sleeping is very common — most people snore occasionally. However, chronic or excessive snoring may be indicative of a deeper sleep condition, such as obstructive sleep apnea, nasal problems, sleep deprivation, etc. We provide laboratory sleep testing or home sleep testing to identify (and subsequently treat) the root cause of your chronic snoring. If your constant snoring is disrupting either you or your partner’s sleep, contact Tower Sleep Medicine’s Sleeping Specialist in Los Angeles to investigate the issue.

Narcolepsy

Narcolepsy is a condition marked by insatiable excessive daytime sleepiness- the urge to sleep throughout the day- even if you’ve had a full night’s sleep. You may find yourself falling asleep at work, in the middle of conversations, or even while eating. You may feel alert after a quick power nap, but the symptoms of sleepiness quickly return, making it hard to be productive. At Tower Sleep Medicine, we specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of Narcolepsy.

Restless Leg Syndrome

Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) is a condition in which you have an urgent and overwhelming urge to move your legs, typically occurring in the evening before sleep, and often accompanied by a burning, crawling, and painful sensations. These sensations may be temporarily relieved by walking or stretching out your legs, but they return soon after laying back down. Untreated RLS leads to discomfort and dread of evenings and sleep, poor quality sleep, and daytime fatigue. In some people, the leg restlessness and discomfort can even occur during the day, interfering with life and causing severe distress. Diagnosing and treating RLS is crucial for long-term physical and mental health.

Insomnia

Insomnia is a sleeping condition in which you may have difficulty falling asleep, difficulty staying asleep, or both. This may lead to long, frustrating, and sleepless nights, as well as daytime symptoms such as sleepiness, poor concentration, decreased executive function, and mood disturbances including depression and anxiety. Insomnia often has many underlying causes and contributing factors and requires a nuanced approach. At Tower Sleep Medicine we recognize the need for thoughtful multidisciplinary care of insomnia.

Home Sleep Testing

Tower Sleep Medicine offers home sleep testing services, so that you can be tested for sleep apnea comfortably and easily in your own home. The home sleep testing kit includes a small electronic device that measures your breathing patterns, oxygen levels, heart rate, and other necessary parameters. You can sleep comfortably in your bedroom while wearing the device. We then download the data from the device to analyze your sleep pattern and treatment recommendations.

CPAP Clinic

CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) is a special machine that is prescribed to treat some people with obstructive sleep apnea. It supports breathing and eliminates apneas (pauses in breathing). While CPAP therapy is the gold standard in the treatment of sleep apnea, some people have challenges with this therapy—especially when first beginning this therapy. Our CPAP Clinic helps you overcome the growing pains associated with CPAP therapy, such as poorly fitting masks, sore spots, CPAP intolerance, and how to clean your CPAP machine. We help you wear CPAP comfortably, so you can focus on getting a good night’s sleep.
